The Text & Media Block now has a Reading rules option. Turn on "Require employees to confirm they read this content" and an acknowledgement checkbox appears under the content, which the learner has to tick for the read to count. Without it, opening the content is enough:

The confirmation is part of the progress of the content item: the block is only complete once the box is ticked. Content creators decide block by block where a simple read is sufficient and where an explicit declaration is needed.

Why this matters

• Proof of reading - a clear record that each person confirmed they read and understood the content, not just that they opened it.
• Ideal for policies - codes of conduct, safety rules, internal regulations and any content that requires acknowledgement.
• Counts towards progress - the confirmation feeds the completion of the content item like any other step.
• Set per block - only the blocks that need it ask for confirmation, the rest stay frictionless.
• Zero setup - a single toggle at the bottom of the block, with no extra configuration.

From "they opened it" to "they confirmed they read it".
